Last season, Tweedmouth took four points off Newburgh with a 2-1 home win on Old Shielfield and a 4-all draw at East Shore Park in the final game of the campaign. In this, the team’s first meeting in 2023-24, even a point eluded them.
Manager Kev Wright was left to bemoan many missed chances.
Rangers were also up against a goalkeeper on top form, David Chalmers judged by Newburgh to be their man of the match.
The first half finished goalless but five minutes into the second, Kellar Harris headed the visitors in front.
Any hopes Tweedmouth had of salvaging a draw were effectively ended when, inside the final five minutes, Connall White added a second goal for the Fife team.
