Match Report :
Tweedmouth kicked off their season at their new home with a first half to forget.
Tweedmouth number 9 Micheal Robinson immediately attacked the kick off from the visitors turning over the ball and showing his teams intent from the get go.
After a promising start Tweedmouths early possession was in vein, as on 5 mins a failed Temple Clearance fell straight to Sean Johnston who’s shot luckly got no further than the leg of the same Tweedmouth defender.
After a great pre season it was all eyes on Sam Straughan, and on the 8 minute mark he found his first path to goal. Drawing the defender and leaving him on the turn, although eventually getting no further than the opposing sides box.
On 9 mins we got the first goal of the game, Evan Smith caught in possession on the half way line creating a 4 on 2 situation with Murray Black finishing the counter off cleanly to give Kennoway the lead. Kennoway created Tweedmouth problems with the long ball, the home defence stepping deeper and deeper in retreat after giving away the early goal.
Being so deep and some high pressing gave the visitors their second goal 10 minutes after their first, goal keeper Danny Fletcher gifted Sean Johnstone a goal from a misplaced pass. 0-2
Tweedmouth couldnt find the link ups between defendce-midfield-attack with a long ball last resort resulting in a few half chances.
On the 32 minute mark things went from bad to worse as Veiria found his own net after a Murray cross found his knee, sending the ball past his rooted keeper. 0-3
Tweedmouth finished the half on the front foot, Bell in a more advanced position posed a few problems given the home dressing room some food for thought before the half time whistle.
Tweedmouth immediately looked different after the restart, New Signing Ross Aitchison on for Straughan, changing the make up from the off in the second 45. It took seconds rather than minutes for the changes to count, Bloomfield advanced from an Aitchison ball, a shot come cross had keeper Moran in trouble, he could only push it on to the bar. The ball then fell to the advancing Robinson who bundled it over the line despite all the efforts from the keeper and his defenders to prevent it. 1-3
A short while later Tweedmouth had some wind in their sails but it was nearly instantly taken out of them, Liam Gartshores effort was tipped over in fine style by the home sides keeper to keep them in the game. With the clock on 57 minutes, The Rangers got within one after Bloomfield and Robinson combined, it was Bloomfield’s cross landing it’s target on the advancing midfielder Jack Cummings at the back post who headed in Tweedmouths second from close range. 2-3
Kennoway brought on Euan Wilson on the half hour mark and he made an instant impact down the left. Cutting inside and after a neat one two his shot was saved low by Fletcher. Wilson would be involved in what would be the killer goal, his pin point cross found Johnstone unmarked and with time to volley in the Kennoway 4th.
A frustrated Rhys Dixon got himself in the book having initially won the ball he was instantaneously crowded out and kicked out with despair. Tweedmouth nearly had a lifeline in a game that looked done when Robinson, even though fouled in the build up, took the advantage and got a shot away from 25 yards sighting the keeper off his line to unfortunately find the top of the bar.
A Craig Bell tackle with 10 mins to go caused some upset with the Kennoway team, a melee occurred with three players ending up in the refs book. Tweedmouth’s Bell for the initial tackle, Kennoway’s Gartshores and Myles Wilson for their part in the confrontations.
On conclusion Tweedmouth gifted two goals to their opponents that in the end they fell short of come the end of the game.
