Match Report :
With Stirling University’s East of Scotland side now using Stenhousemuir’s plastic Ochilview pitch as home base this was one of the few games in the East League to beat the wet weather.
The only side to have beaten leaders Bo’ness Athletic so far, victory or even a draw would have taken the students up to third place in the Second Division table. On this occasion, they were outplayed as Tweedmouth deservedly gained a first away win of the season with noteworthy performances from Riley Lightfoot and Craig Bell amongst others.
The whistle went for half time immediately after Rhys Dixon put Rangers ahead directly from a corner. Earlier, following a run down the right, Michael Robinson’s decent strike with his ‘wrong’ left foot produced a good save from Stirling’s keeper.
Around ten minutes into the second half, the lead was doubled. Having already threatened a couple of times in the opening 45′, Rhys Bloomfield now collected the ball just inside his own half and beat two men before his shot went in off the post.
Sam Straughan, on for the last chapter of the match, also caused Stirling some bother as Tweedmouth comfortably held on to their two goal advantage.
