Match Report :

This weeks match was in the SFA South region challenge cup and Tweedmouth played Leith Athletic in a Sunday fixture. Having only played each other two weeks previous in a close well contested match this one was anyone’s for the taking and even with a bare bones squad the home side showed this by immediately going on the offensive causing the visitors some early problems. However Leith weathered this early storm and the game settled down into a very even rhythm with both teams pressing each other without creating too much work for the keepers. As the half drew to a close it looked like it was to be honours even until a lapse in concentration saw two Leith midfielders unmarked on the edge of the box and although not the best resulting shot it still managed to squirm under the keepers outstretched hand on the 44th minute. Into the second half and undeterred by the score line the hosts continued to go toe to toe and almost got their reward on the hour mark when Rutherford went through 1 on 1 with the visiting keeper only to place wide, five minutes later some fine close control from home striker Robertson created a golden opportunity for Strang in the Leith box only for him blaze high and wide. As the game moved into the last 15 minutes the home side’s lack of bodies on the bench and expended effort saw legs tire and the home side gradually retreat into a defensive cycle, the subsequent pressure from the Edinburgh side saw them grab a second goal 10 minutes from time and only some quality saves from the home keeper kept it a 2 – 0 score to finish.

The club again would like to give a massive Thank you to Bryson Electrical for sponsoring the match and Yeoman Architecture for sponsoring our match ball.
